Epic Games has returned with one of its most anticipated holiday promotions—a free copy of Hogwarts Legacy, available to download and keep permanently. Known for giving away weekly games to attract new users, Epic typically reserves its biggest surprises for December. This year, the platform is marking The Game Awards and the start of its Holiday Sale with one of its largest blockbuster giveaways yet.
The Harry Potter–universe action RPG, which became one of 2023’s best-selling games, is now free for PC players on the Epic Games Store. And unlike trial offers or limited-access promotions, this deal lets users own the game forever, with no subscription or hidden conditions.
How to download Hogwarts Legacy for free
Claiming the game is simple and takes only a few minutes:

Visit the Epic Games Store
Go to the official Epic Games Store website or open the Epic launcher. -
Log in or create an account
A free Epic Games account is required to claim the title. -
Search for Hogwarts Legacy
Navigate to the game’s store page. -
Click “GET”
Tap the blue GET button on the right side of the page.
This adds the game to your library permanently.
Once added, you can download and play it anytime.
Do note, this is the PC version, so you’ll need a system that meets the game’s minimum requirements.
How long will Hogwarts Legacy remain free?
The offer is available until 4 PM GMT on December 18.
Once the deadline passes, the game will no longer be free—but you will keep it permanently if you added it to your library before the cutoff.
